Founded in 1933, Portobello-RMF has a long-standing history of manufacturing Process Plant equipment to the highest quality and safety standards. As an amalgamation of two highly respected and experienced fabrication companies, Portobello Fabrications Ltd and RMF Engineering Ltd, Portobello-RMF delivers exceptional services and pushes the boundaries of fabrication within the industry. Following the amalgamation that took place in 2009, Portobello-RMF became an employee-owned organisation in 2018 via an Employee Ownership Trust and is in full control of its own finances and asset base.
Portobello-RMF specialises in mechanical design, thermal design and fabrication of process plant equipment. Our skilled expertise applies to a broad range of equipment, such as heat exchangers, pressure vessels, skid packages, pipework and other bespoke, special and high integrity fabrications, all to meet the requirements of International Design Codes, ASME, EN13445, PD5500 and client specifications.
Portobello-RMF have an extensive knowledge and capability to work with a vast number of materials such as Carbon Steels, Stainless Steels, Duplex, Nickel Alloys, Titanium, Zirconium and Tantalum. Job Description
The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Working responsibly and safely in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Management System
- Working in accordance with the Company’s Quality Management System
- Reading and understanding of engineering drawings
- Reading and understanding Material Schedules
- Reading and understanding Quality Plans
- Goods inwards inspection in line with the Company’s procedures
- Material certification review and approval in line with the Company’s procedures
- Stock control and approval in line with the Company’s procedures
- In process and final inspections of equipment using tapes, micrometres, vernier callipers and Faro Arm (training provided), and the creation of inspection reports
- Equipment Calibration in line with the Company’s procedures
- Producing dimensional and other related QC reports in line with the Company’s procedures
- Assisting the Production Manager and QC Engineer during equipment manufacture and quality related matters
Desirable Skills
- A strong understanding of health and safety requirements
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- General understanding of pressure equipment manufacture (pressure vessels and heat exchangers)
- General understanding and working knowledge of materials
- Experience with quality/environmental/safety management standards such as ISO 9001:2015
- Experience in manufacturing and inspection of equipment
- Ability to use inspection tools and equipment
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to cope under pressure
- Keen attention to detail
- Computer literate
A full driving licence is required for this role.
Knowledge of the industry is preferred but not essential — training will be provided.
