Key Challenges
Titanium is highly sensitive to atmospheric contamination during welding, so every weld required full inert gas shielding and trailing protection. Fabrication was carried out in a dedicated clean area, fully segregated from carbon steel work to prevent iron contamination. Holding dimensional accuracy on a large diameter, lightweight vessel also required careful control of heat input and handling throughout.
